Hello Free Software Lovers!
Were now just three weekends away from our first Contributing to Free Software & Open Source Workshop comming up on the 22nd of August. We already have a few signups and I've also been busying myself brushing up on android development in case we get some people keen to do some mobie development.
It was great to see so many of you last month! Following on from that discussion, you may be interested to know that GovHack registrations for Melbourne, Ballarat and Geelong are now open.
The 21st of May was the Free Software Melbourne meetup with guests from GovHack and Russell Coker this month. We trailed our first live stream of the meetings which was a particular success with a few regular members unable to attend in person but listening in from around Melbourne. Jordan Wilson-Otto and Alisha Ryans-Taylor from GovHack gave us a run down on the upcoming competition and outlined it's goals in regard to Open Government and some of it's history in Australia.
Please join us this month to hear about GovHack; an annual event to build things that use of publically available government data. Melbourne representative Alisha Ryans-Taylor will be telling us all about it. Scott will be giving us the Gnews, a current affairs wrap-up in the world of free software. For those who can make it, we'll also follow on for tasty dinner at Classic Curry on Elizabeth Street.
