2015-09-10: Let's free Sydney

To be sent to

Hi all,

As announced in rather ad hoc ways in the past, we will meet an the 10th of September, at 20:00 AEST, via a video conference on Jit.si [0]. All details can be found on our website [1], including backup plans and IRC.

This initial meeting is meant to gauge interest in the Sydney/NSW region and, hopefully, we can move the following meetings into the Real World(tm). If you know of any location that could host us, please chime in!

Nonetheless, we thought it would be good to have some quick talks, followed up by a more general discussion. All in all, this should take about 1:30, but you're most welcome to stay as much or as little as you want!

The tentative program will be as follows.

We'll meet using Jitsi Meet, in the FreeSoftwareAustralia room [0]. This is a Free WebRTC-based multi-seat video-conference system which, from our early test, looks pretty reliable. You will however need a recent browser such as Firefox Nightly or Chromium for it to work. We'll also try to record the meeting for later.

Feel free to pass on this message to people you think might be interested (even if non Sydney/NSW!). Further information will, eventually, be found on the website [2], and discussions on the mailing list [3]. We are still building the resources at this stage, so please forgive the crudeness, we didn't have time to paint them or build them to scale (:

PS: We are extremely grateful to the Free Software Melbourne guys who essentially welcomed us on their infrastructure to do all this. Thanks heaps, guys!
